Why do you like LotR? Tell us here.
I like LotR because it is put in more of a historic tone. Tolkien actually wrote history on the place, and created new languages, and made maps, sketches, you name it. LotR is so graceful and captivating, and it makes you think. You also get attached to the characters and care about their well being. Not that many books can do that.

Oh, I definitely agree. (yay for maps!) Ehem... Yes, I'm a very big fan of made-up maps and languages (and not made-up as well). It's just... well, I dunno really. I guess it's just the whole history Tolkien puts behind his works. And... I don't know... I think it's cool how real he made his world. It's definitely cool how attached he makes you get to his characters. (Until he kills them off, that is. Lucky for us he doesn't seem to be the vindictive sort, right?) And just the general storyline... as you said, captivating. I realize I'm rambling, so I'll stop and give another person a chance.
